Procurement & IT Support Officer

Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement & IT Support Officer to support our research and administrative operations. The appointee will handle procurement activities (with training provided) and provide basic IT technical support, while acting as the main contact point with our outsourced IT vendor.

Responsibilities:
Handle tendering and quotation exercises in accordance with policies and guidelines.
Carry out day-to-day procurement for R&D projects, laboratory items, equipment, consumables, and office supplies (training provided).
Liaise with suppliers and service providers, acting as the primary contact for our outsourced IT vendor.
Provide basic IT technician support, including troubleshooting common hardware/software issues, equipment setup, and coordination of IT-related procurement.
Monitor order status, delivery, and inventory to ensure timely and cost-effective supply of goods and services.
Maintain accurate procurement and IT records, documentation, and assist in preparing reports when required.
Perform any other ad hoc duties as assigned by the supervisor.

General Qualification

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred; candidates with relevant procurement, IT, or technical experience and qualifications will also be considered.
Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or IT technical support (research/higher education/public sector preferred).
Good understanding of tendering procedures, quotation comparison, and vendor evaluation.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with basic IT tools (e.g., Windows troubleshooting, hardware setup) highly desirable.
Knowledge of IT hardware/software procurement and vendor coordination will be a strong advantage.
Willingness to learn procurement processes through on-the-job training.

Remuneration & Duration of Appointment

The remuneration package will be highly competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits for full-time appointments include leave and medical insurance, etc. Initial appointments will be made on a fixed-term contract. The possibility of re-appointment after the initial contract period will be based on performance evaluation and mutual agreements.
