About the Research Centre
In collaboration with the CityU, the University of Oxford and the Karolinska Institutet, the Hong Kong Centre for Cerebro-cardiovascular Health Engineering (COCHE) was established with the support of the ITC-InnoHK Programme to develop new ways to tackle cardiovascular disease (CVD), which is the world's leading cause of morbidity and mortality. To address the most pressing health challenges caused by CVD, COCHE focuses on developing innovative technologies such as flexible and wearable devices, biomedical and molecular imaging, nano-biosensing, micro-robotics, healthcare AI systems, and other groundbreaking methods to enable early prevention, diagnosis and intervention of the disease. These technologies can reduce human costs while alleviating the healthcare system's financial and social burdens.
Job Description
We are seeking a Public Health Researcher (Biostatistics) to support our community-based health screening initiatives and population health research. You will work with data, field operations, and cross-disciplinary teams to understand the health needs of Hong Kong’s elderly, evaluate screening event outcomes, and contribute to publications and grant-funded projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement study protocols for community health screening events targeting the aged population.
Collect, process, analyse and interpret anonymised health data (e.g., finger prick blood results, vital signs, demographic information, self-reported health behaviours).
Conduct literature reviews on cerebro-cardiovascular risk factors, aging, and community screening effectiveness.
Prepare research findings for reports, academic publications, and presentations to clinical and community partners.
Assist in preparing ethics applications, consent forms, and data privacy documentation in compliance with Hong Kong regulations.
Work with event staff to ensure smooth data collection during events.
Contribute to research progress reporting.
General Qualification
PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or a related field.
Experience in community-based or aging-related research with outstanding publications tracked records is highly preferred.
Proficiency in quantitative data analysis (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata, or Python).
Familiarity with Hong Kong’s healthcare system and elderly population characteristics.
Strong written and spoken English; Cantonese proficiency is a strong asset for community interaction.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across engineering, clinical, and community teams.
