COCHE is proud to be one of the supporting units of the Hongqiao Cerebro-Cardiovascular (C2) Health Guardian Programme, organised by City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) with the generous sponsorship of China Hongqiao Group Limited (Hongqiao). The Programme aims to enhance community health by providing free, comprehensive screening services for 5,000 residents of Light Public Housing and Transitional Housing in Kwun Tong, Sham Shui Po, Sha Tin and Tsuen Wan, with a focus on the early detection of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular and metabolic risks.

The inauguration ceremony of the C2 Programme was held at CityUHK’s Lee Shau Kee Student Residence Village, where officiating guests and representatives from CityUHK, Hongqiao, COCHE, District Health Centres and community organisations gathered to mark the official launch. The ceremony highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing cerebro-cardiovascular health, and featured sharing on how the Programme will integrate university research, clinical expertise and community networks to serve grassroots residents.

During the event, guests also visited displays and briefings that outlined the screening workflow and follow-up pathways, illustrating how data-driven assessments and multidisciplinary support will be used to identify at-risk individuals and connect them to appropriate care. The inauguration set a solid foundation for the Programme’s next phase, signalling strong support from all partners involved.

COCHE focuses on developing innovative technologies that enable prediction, prevention and early intervention of cerebro-cardiovascular diseases. As a supporting unit of the C2 Programme, COCHE helps bridge engineering and biomedical research with frontline community services, ensuring that scientific advances can be translated into practical tools and models of care that protect brain and heart health at the population level.

As part of the InnoHK initiative, COCHE recognises its broader social responsibilities. By participating in the C2 Health Guardian Programme, COCHE supports a cross-sector collaboration model that connects government policy directions, industrial sponsorship, academic expertise and district health resources to address pressing public health challenges and promote health equity for residents in Light Public Housing and Transitional Housing.

COCHE remains committed to fostering partnerships that align scientific excellence with community benefit, and to supporting initiatives that bring innovative cerebro-cardiovascular solutions beyond the laboratory into real-world settings.
