Adjunct Professor, Department of Radiology, School of Medicine, The Johns Hopkins University (JHU)
Senior Fellow, International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM)
Prof. Kannie WY Chan, Director of our Centre and Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong, has been awarded the 2025 ISMRM Senior Fellow by the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM - the premium international society for MRI research with memberships worldwide, including clinicians, engineers and physicists from US, Europe and Asia (https://www.ismrm.org). This prestigious recognition honors her groundbreaking advancements in molecular MRI technologies, notably her pioneering work in Dynamic Glucose-Enhanced (DGE) MRI for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and her leadership in Chemical Exchange Saturation Transfer (CEST) Imaging.
As a global leader in CEST-MRI, Prof. Chan's research bridges preclinical and clinical MRI, emphasizing low-cost, high-accessibility solutions. For example, her DGE-MRI protocol is compatible with standard hospital MRI machines, potentially advancing the detection early neuropathological changes in Alzheimer's disease.
The ISMRM Senior Fellowship underscores Prof. Chan's role as an internationally recognized leader in the field of MRI. For more on her research, visit [NICE-Lab] https://kanniewychan.netlify.app/ or the [ISMRM Fellows listing] https://www.ismrm.org/25m/fellows/
